10 things you
don't know
about La Maison GISEL B.

What's not written on a product page.
What doesn't fit into a technical sheet.
What makes a house.

There are things we don't say on an e-commerce site. Things we don't put in product descriptions, in technical sheets, in "About Us" pages written to please algorithms. Things that don't have a box in a form.

These are precisely the things that make a house. Not the pearls — well, not only. Not the gold plating, not the labels, not the 100 resellers worldwide. Rather, what's behind it. What remains when everything else is removed.

Here are ten of those things. Ten truths about La Maison GISEL B that you might not have known.

01 The House

The House is 11 years old this year.

La Maison GISEL B · 11 years of pearls, gestures, fresh starts.

Eleven years. It's not a duration measured in sales figures or launched collections. It's a duration measured in gestures. In thousands of knotted pearls, in hundreds of handmade orders prepared, in mornings that look like all other mornings and that, put end to end, eventually form something.

Eleven years is also eleven years of doubts. Of moments when you wonder if it's worth continuing. Of unanswered questions. And then, the next morning, you resume. Because a pearl is waiting to be set, and an order is waiting to be sent, and someone, somewhere, will receive this piece of jewelry and wear it on their wedding day, or for their birthday, or just because.

Eleven years of pearls. Of gestures. Of fresh starts. Each collection created in our workshop carries this duration without saying it.

02 The Founder

I'm alone. I respond to every message. Always.

Clémence · Founder · La Maison GISEL B · Toulouse

When you write to service-client@giselb.com, Clémence reads it. When you ask a question on Instagram, Clémence answers. There's no outsourced customer service, no chatbot, no pre-filled script.

Just a person, on the other side, trying to understand what you're looking for. Who reads your entire message. Who sometimes remembers, from one order to the next, what you said last time. This proximity is not a selling point. It's simply the reality of a human-sized house — and a way of genuinely believing that every person who writes deserves a real answer.

There's something precious about knowing who you're talking to.
Something that large organizations struggle to offer.
03 The Workshop

My jewelers are artisans. Never a factory.

Order preparation · La Maison GISEL B · Handmade, never mass-produced.

There's one thing we've never done at GISEL B: entrust manufacturing to an anonymous production line. Every piece of jewelry that leaves our workshop in Toulouse has been assembled by a human hand. Not a machine-assisted one. Not an industrial process with a manual finish. An artisan, their tools, their gestures.

These women who work with us are not operators. They are people who understand what they are making, who see if a pearl is misplaced, if a clasp is too tight, if something is not at its best. This judgment — this attention — cannot be automated. That's precisely what makes the difference between a truly handmade piece of jewelry and one that claims to be artisanal.

04 Resilience

I lost 50% of my resellers in 2024. And direct orders tripled.

La Maison GISEL B · Baroque cultured pearls · Gold plated

2024 has been a difficult year for many small jewelry houses. The physical retail market contracted, concept stores tightened their budgets, and resellers simplified their assortments. We felt the effects directly — with the loss of half of our reseller partners in a few months.

What happened next, we hadn't anticipated. Direct orders — on giselb.com — tripled. As if the loss of one channel had opened the other wider. As if customers had also decided to come directly to the source.

We didn't seek this lesson. It found us. And it says something important: a direct relationship, without intermediaries, is perhaps what best suits who we are. A house that speaks to its customers without filtering, without additional margin coefficients, without distance.

05 Manufacturing

Every piece of jewelry made to order. For you. Only for you.

Selection of pearls and components · La Maison GISEL B Workshop · Toulouse

There's no stock waiting in a warehouse somewhere. There are no jewels made in advance, in series, hoping someone will order them someday. Every piece you receive is created after your order. For you. Only for you.

This means several things. That the processing time is ten to fifteen days — the time it takes to do it well. That if you order a piece, it will be assembled with the pearls available at the time of your order — thus slightly different from the photo, because baroque pearls are never exactly alike. And that, somewhere in our workshop, a person has taken your pearls, looked at them, assembled them, and thought of the person who would receive them.

That's what making to order means. It's a way of doing things that slows down — and respects.

GISEL B expertise

Every piece of jewelry is made after receiving your order. Usual lead time: 10 to 15 business days. This delay is proof that your piece did not exist before you ordered it.

06 The Gesture

I drill 80% of the pearls by hand. In my workshop. One by one.

Hand drilling · GISEL B Workshop · Toulouse · Artisan de France Label 2025

It's the thing you don't see — and it changes everything. Before being set, each pearl must be drilled. And in our workshop, this gesture is manual. Eighty percent of the pearls we use are drilled by hand, one by one, with traditional jewelry tools.

It's not the fastest way. It's not the most profitable either. But it's the way that allows us to control each pearl individually — to see how it reacts, to adjust the gesture according to its shape, its thickness, its irregularity. The baroque pearl, precisely because it is irregular, demands this level of attention. No two drillings are identical.

This gesture, repeated thousands of times, is essentially the heart of what we do. Not the staging, not the packaging, not the advertising campaigns. The gesture. The hand on the tool. The pearl waiting.

07 Uniqueness

90% of our pieces are unique. Each pearl is different — each piece of jewelry is too.

90% of our pieces are unique · La Maison GISEL B · Baroque cultured pearls

We are sometimes asked why the received piece of jewelry doesn't exactly match the photo. The answer is simple, and it says something essential about what we do: because baroque cultured pearls don't look alike. Two pearls from the same harvest, from the same mollusk, cultivated under the same conditions, will be different. That's their nature. That's their signature.

So when we say that 90% of our pieces are unique, it's not a marketing argument. It's a physical reality. The piece of jewelry you received exists in only one copy in the world. No one else wears exactly what you wear. This uniqueness is not a luxury — it's what artisanal work with living material inherently offers.

That's also why we love baroque pearls beyond trends. They are irreducibly themselves. Like the women who wear them.

08 Reach

Our jewelry ships to over 30 countries. From Toulouse. Alone.

From Toulouse · To over 30 countries · La Maison GISEL B

There's something a little dizzying about realizing that jewelry made in a workshop in Toulouse ends up in Japan, the United States, Australia, the Emirates. That pearls selected by hand here, knotted and set here, travel to women who don't exactly know where Toulouse is on a map — and who wear these jewels in their daily lives on the other side of the world.

We didn't build this international reach with a considerable marketing budget. It was built otherwise — by word of mouth, by Instagram, by the Faire platform, by resellers who believed in the jewelry enough to offer it to their own customers. And by something we can't quite name — the trust that strangers decided to place in us, from the other side of their screen.

Over 30 countries. From Toulouse. Alone. It's both a lot and very little. And it's exactly who we are.

09 Recognition

Artisan de France 2025. Size doesn't dictate quality.

Artisan de France 2025 Label · La Maison GISEL B · Toulouse

In 2025, La Maison GISEL B obtained the Artisan de France label. This is not a certification one grants oneself — it's a recognition obtained after rigorous verification of manufacturing conditions, qualifications, and practices. Chambers of trade don't sign off easily.

This label says something we deeply believe: size doesn't dictate quality. A small house, working in small batches, with selected materials and mastered gestures, can produce something more beautiful and durable than a large industrial structure. This is not an opposition — it's simply a different way of thinking about what valuable jewelry is.

The Artisan de France label is not an embellishment on our page. It's a promise we keep with every order. To learn more about what handmade genuinely changes, our article on handmade jewelry in France elaborates on this conviction in detail.

10 The Truth

A year ago, I almost quit. Today, it's the best year. Thank you.

A year ago, I almost quit. Today, it's the best year.

There are things you usually don't say when you're a brand. You don't say you almost closed down. You don't say that some mornings, the desire wasn't there anymore. You don't say that the doubt was so strong, so persistent, that it almost won.

We decided to say it anyway.

A year ago, La Maison GISEL B went through its most difficult period. The loss of resellers, a challenging economic climate, the solitude of bearing everything alone — all of this accumulated. There were moments when closing seemed like the reasonable thing to do.

And then something happened. Direct orders. Messages from customers saying they received their jewelry and put it on immediately. Resellers who had believed in us from the beginning and continued to do so. A community that rallied around what we were doing, perhaps without even knowing they were doing it.

Today, it's the best year since the Maison was founded. Not because everything is easy — but because everything that resists deserves to be there. Because the jewelry that leaves our workshop for over 30 countries has a reason to exist. Because you are there.

So, simply: thank you.

Thank you for wearing our jewelry.
Thank you for trusting what is made by hand, slowly, with intention.
Thank you for being here for a year, five years, ten years — or since yesterday.

These ten things are not selling points. They are realities. The reality of a small house that believes, every morning, that what it does has value. That the cultured pearl deserves to be worked with care. That artisanal jewelry is not an inaccessible luxury but a different way of thinking about what we wear.

If you wish to learn more about what drives us — pearls, materials, expertise — you can read our article on the cultured pearl, what it truly is. Or simply explore our collection — and let a piece choose you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is behind La Maison GISEL B?

Maison GISEL B was founded by Clémence, who remains its sole director. She personally responds to every message, selects each pearl, and supervises manufacturing in the Toulouse workshop. The company has been in business for 11 years and ships its jewelry to over 30 countries worldwide.

Are GISEL B jewels truly handmade?

Yes, entirely. Each piece of jewelry is made to order in the Toulouse workshop by artisan assemblers. 80% of the pearls are drilled by hand, one by one. The company has held the Artisan de France label since 2025, which officially certifies this reality.

Why doesn't my piece of jewelry look exactly like the photo?

Because 90% of our pieces are unique. Baroque cultured pearls are naturally irregular — no two are alike. The piece you received was assembled with the pearls available at the time of your order, and it is therefore slightly different from the photo. This is proof of its artisanal character and absolute uniqueness.

What is the manufacturing time for a GISEL B piece of jewelry?

Since each piece of jewelry is made to order, the usual lead time is 10 to 15 business days. This timeframe is inherent to our way of working — nothing is pre-fabricated. Your piece did not exist before you ordered it.

Does Maison GISEL B deliver internationally?

Yes. Maison GISEL B ships its jewelry from Toulouse to over 30 countries worldwide. Orders can be placed directly on giselb.com. For any questions regarding international delivery, please write to service-client@giselb.com.
